With the Tokyo Designer's Week 08 beginning here in a week the buzz is spreading around town about what is hot and who to watch out for.
This year the format appears to be similar to the past few events. Displays and exhibitions this year include;
Tokyo Designer’s Week consists of these events:
100% Design Tokyo
100% Design Tokyo made its sensational debut in 2005. Receiving an overwhelming response from both the international and domestic design community as a new and highly respected design event, 100% Design Tokyo has already established itself as Japan’s premier contemporary interiors event.
CONTAINER DESIGNING TOWN
The theme for the 2008 Container Exhibition Ground is the “Container Designing Town”, where various brands, organizations and embassies coexist like in town to attract and fulfill excited visitors.
100% Futures
This year, the established student exhibition in Tokyo Designer’s Week will evolve into a collaboration project exhibition with the industry sector. It will not only a student exhibition like past years, nor will it be an ordinary company and school collaboration project but it will be an exhibition consists of two types of presentation. One of which is the work created by collaboration between various schools with a company. And the other is a exhibition of students work.
SHOP EXHIBITION
SHOP EXHIBITION 2008 will be held again this year in a form of collaboration project involving Design Association’s unique design oriented portal site which will soon launch in fall of 2008. Design related facilities located in Tokyo area will appear in virtual world this year to celebrate the new SHOP EXHIBITION 2008.
SHOP EXHIBITION this year will also collaborate with 100% Design Tokyo: 100% SHOP and other special categories within the venue. In 100% SHOP, visitors may purchase goods which are usually sold only in shops. And visitors can enjoy the concept and originality of each shop, gallery and showroom in other categories within 100% Design Tokyo. SHOP EXIHIBITION will be held by registered facilities including interior, product, fashion and all areas which involves design.
ZERO EXHIBITION
ZERO EXHIBITION aims to discover new and young designers. Talented young designers under 40 years old are gathered to exhibit their creative works at Akasaka Ark Hills Karajan (Satellite venue of Tokyo Designer’s Week). Tokyo Design Premio winners will be invited to exhibit at either Milano Salone or 100% Design London.
