Black List Beauties

We have written about Black List Tokyobefore, the ultra sleek monthly gathering in Tokyo. Exclusively for Black List members and the ones they love, these funky happenings in some of Tokyo's smoothest night spots are a fusion of French club scene and the Tokyo international set.

Tokyo Black List
was established in 2005 by Beno creator of the BOEGE label and his partner Cedric. As the Black List site croons, they are "2 Frenchmen with a passion for luxurious parties and good community". As we witnessed they also know how to keep a crowd entertained and cozy in stunning surroundings well after last Tokyo train.

Check out the Black List site gallery for more eye candy, but here are a few of us lapping up the fun at last month's Parisian festa. All photos were taken by super glam photographers Hiroki (it is worth going just to see his Swarovski studded camera strap) and Andrea.

Shinjuku

You have possibly spotted this time lapse vid of the rapid transformation of Shinjuku, Tokyo. 35 years in 10 seconds, 1969 - 2004. I stumbled upon it again today and can't decide if I am more amazed by the boom of "progress" or the "woah"s "oawah"s and "gawayah"s being let out by the geinojin (TV personalities) viewing the video.

Birthday Winners

As many of you know February 14th was TOKYOMADE's first birthday. The whole month of February felt like one big birthday bash! Now that we have had a little time to finally chill for a bit we are sending out the 1st Birthday Party Bags that we had on offer to some lucky Tokyo Fan Club members.

give-away-number.jpg

give-away-number1.jpg

This month it was The Ghetto Tokyo that provided us with the winning numbers. The no. 101 is a light that used to be a room number in the old Love Hotel and is still above the entrance to the newly repainted skate ramp. The no. 230 was stickered on the wall outside of the soon to be finished, rockabilly style Hell's Kitchen bar and cafe.

We have emailed Tokyo Fan no. 101 and 230 on the list and will be sending out their hot party prize bags this week!

Congratulations and thank you to all of our groovy Tokyo Fan Club members.

Spicy MACBAG Style

macbag-all.jpg

Colorful new MACBAG style is in the house. Machie, MACBAG creator, has outdone herself with this latest fun filled range of pouches, party bags and otona (adult) bags.

I am personally a huge fan of Machie's work. I carry around one of her taro bags everywhere I go. I am truly in love with it. It is a gorgeous shade of green with golden teacups all over it. Instantly falling in love with it when I spotted it at the MACBAG stand at last year's Design Festa in May I have carted it around ever since. It fits all of my pieces including my over sized diary, ideas book, the latest book I am reading plus all the fruits and vegetables I carry here and there. The best thing is it has lasted so well. Any one who knows me understands how much tough love I give my clothes and accessories, MACBAG has stood up to me for almost 12 months now! The ideal carry all.

mixed%20tape.jpg

Back by popular demand! After being featured by Gala Darling last week in her post entitled Fun Accessories the Mixed Tape Transformer Necklaces were snapped up in no time.

The funky mix masters were featured on other spaces around the internet too so Miss BLITZ Kiss put her fingers to work and created a few more to share with you.

A gaggle (what is the collective noun for a group of transformers?) have been sent off to Red Mutha for the opening of their new Brighton store. The rest we held on to tightly but they are already robot dancing away, snatched quickly by global style lovers!

As the story goes in 2004 a 2 meter tall Mad Panda showed up at Hariken's house. Despite Mad Panda's trouble making Hariken and the beastly looking brute hit it off and became instant friends.

Mad Panda enjoys snacking on melon pan (bread) all day keeping his paunch in shape. He tries his best to look all scary and wild but really he is a big teddy bear who has a lot of love to give.

Hariken created this soft vinyl toy in his best friend's image.

Movable arms, legs head. Metallic red eyes. Black and white soft vinyl.

This is a LIMITED EDITION Japanese designer toy. Made in Japan by TTToy. Designed by Hariken.

The Nani Bird Project

Tokyo based illustrator Josh McKible creator of the popular Nani Birds is also the mastermind behind a very happening online art project.

nani%20bird.jpg

The Nani Bird project is a 3D manifestation of the 100 Nani Bird paintings Josh originally created. The word nani is Japanese for what. As Josh describes, what? is a universal question and he wanted to see just how global artists would answer the birdie question.

nani%20bird%20yuki.jpg

The first batch of four 3D folded paper birds were created and a call was put out to artists around the world to try their hand at making their own nani birds. Since then a gaggle of birdies have hatched designed by illustrators such as Yuki Nakano and Shantell Martin.

nani%20bird%20tanjobi.jpg

Each bird can be downloaded and printed for you to create, play with, give to a friend, talk to, whatever you wish. There are even tips and tricks for optimum birdie construction.

Josh is always on the look out for artists who would like to contribute to the ongoing project, if you are interested be sure to get in touch.

Tiny Azure Spring Treasures

Eiko Yamaji has launched her new Spring range of whimsical pieces including one-of-a-kind necklaces and bag charms. New combinations, materials and etchings that we are super proud to support and show off.

The Tiny Azure range has built up quite a fan base, for good reason, so we know these will be flying away.
