While we probably won't be seeing too many halfie monsters like Fran Fran on display tomorrow, we do hope to spot some gorgeous Hina Dolls. In the meantime you can read up on all things happening on Girl's Day HERE and HERE
And while you wait to hear who is the winner of our Ohinasama comp, why don't you get out your fancy origami paper and make your very own dolls!
We were going to write you a big and colorful explaination of all the things happening today...but Ping Mag does it SO well! CHECK IT OUT
We are heading out the door with lucky box in hand right now. When we return we shall announce the winner of the Ohinasama Girl's Day Competition!
GOOD LUCK AND THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO ENTERED OUR FIRST COMPETITION!! (We hope you are as excited as we are!)

With the lucky numbers ready and lucky box in hand we headed off into the streets of Shinjuku in search of a cute ticket picker.
Strolling through the basement of Studio Alta in Shinjuku, taking a quick pitstop at swimmer we bumped into Miho whipping up a very fine display at Dream Diva. We thought she made a very gorgeous lucky number picker indeed!
The winning lucky number is... 1136
Congratulations 1136!!!!! We will let you all know where the Ohinasama is heading...perhaps somewhere exotic, maybe a big city?? Where ever it may be we are sure the Ohinasama pair will enjoy their gorgeous new home!
Thank you a million to everyone that entered the Hina Matsuri Competition. Stay tuned for more Tokyo Fan Club comps!
A huge thanks to Miho for being a fab ticket picker. Blown away by her sense of style and friendliness we couldn't help but ask for her Spring fashion tip...
Miho's Spring Fashion Tip > ANIMALS!!
So dust off those frog earrings, get out your leopard print momo, wrap some dolphins in your hair. According to Miho this spring is all about the animal! Oh and if you wardrobe needs a bit of wilderness we suggest you check THIS, THIS and THIS out!
Thanks Miho!!
TM xx
When Miho picked the lucky number 1136 from the box on Girl's Day there was a mad dash for the notebook we had written all the corresponding emails in to see who the winner was! Secretly hoping it wasn't anyone we knew (sorry mum!) cos that would just look bad, we scanned down the list until we got to 1136. The email looked familiar with a Japanese name but we couldn't be sure until we got home and did a double check.
Much to our delight, the wonderful winner of the Ohinasama was an adorable MySpace friend of Two Scoop Rice fame. We were even more excited to find that our little baby was heading for the bright lights of Vegas woooohoooooo!
Renae and her super kawaii creations can be found HERE, HERE and HERE
Oh and we stole some of her cuteness (don't worry she said we could!!) just so we could give you a taste (ha ha) of what is to come when you got and check out all of her yumminess! I think my fav is the Wasabi Pea or maybe the Moody Cupcake, so very cool (you can find them on the Two Scoop Rice Etsy Shop).

Thanks for being a top winner Renae, made even more exciting by the fact that you were our first ever TOKYO FAN CLUB competition winner!! Let us know when she arrives, we are sure she is going to adore her new home with all of her cute friends to play with.

The April Zipper found at all good Tokyo magazine shops, books stores, kiosks and conbinis is all aboput keeping it simple. The pretty in pink cover states that this year's Spring fashion is all about simplicity.
To make things even more simple, inside the Zipper crew have offered up 12 'keywords' for Spring with an 8 page spread of the simple Spring looks. Wanna know what the keywords are ? Oh of course you do...
keyword 1 - retro mini
The retro mini dress is literally taking over Tokyo at the moment. Not too many are brave enough to wear it in the chill just yet but the stores are getting ready in a big way. We expect to see lots of bright tight covered thigh and plenty of gloriously patterned, spotted and striped mini dresses as soon as spring warmth really hits the streets.
A quick window shop this weekend alerted us to the retro minis best friend - the long, chunky pendant. Very cute indeed!
keyword 2 - chiffon
A big fan of the chiffon cake myself, not sure that I am wanting to look like one. According to Zipper chiffon one pieces in every color are hot to trot. In true Zipper style, the cute but simple chiffon one piece dresses are given some spice with sparkley sandals, oversized and long hanging necklaces, spunky tights and cake like hats.
keyword(s) 3 - long t-shirts and tanks
This style is super simple, looks exactly like wearing your nightie with some frilly socks, tights or slim jeans. Seriously though some of the oversized tees are ultra cool and would look good with a belt or wrap to get some shape happening.
keyword 4 - antique
Think vintage but way older. Zipeer is talking lace doilies and old leather school shoes. Not for everyone but certainly something to experiment with.
keyword 5 - balloon
I would never have called this, not in a million years. I thought the balloon/bubble look would melt away as quickly as a three scoop double choc icecream in the summer sun. Zipper shows off the balloon dress in a multitude of colors and styles. Would love to hear how the bubble dress is holding up in other parts of the world ??
keyword 6 - satin
This one is a biggie. A quick pit stop at the newly opened Hanjiro in Shinjuku on the weekend had satin on display as the under layer of choice. Very cute I must say. Vintage satin makes it all the more appealing. Lots of bright satin was seen poking out from under retro mini dresses and crop cardigans.
keyword 7 - salopette
I will admit if I just saw the word without the pictures I would have been heading straight to dictionary.com to find out what a salopette was. For those of you in the same boat as me, a salopette is like a cute pair of overalls. I must also admit I saw this style being pushed in Australia back in Dec/Jan. It is a hard look to pull off! Naturally the Zipper chicks do it so well.
keyword 8 - ribbon
There is no disputing the bow is big!
keyword 9 - shirt
While the oversized shirt look can appear simply as if you have forgotten your pants, with the right partners this look has got alot of potential. Very much digging the over sized short with cropped hoodie being spotted in a few places recently.
keyword 10 - frilly
Ouch, I know this is a keyword not too often bandied around in our hosehold but if Lily Allen and Zipper are all for it then I guess it defintiely gets a look in!
keyword 11- monotone
Who says Spring has to be all about pinks and pastels? Zipper turns on the black and white.
keyword 12 - lace stitch
By lace stitch they are obviously talking about the fabric of lace being used for all number of things. I can dig this...a little bit retro Madonna, a little bit Mary Poppins. May not be sporting it but will certainly applaud it when well done.
A delightful end to a colorful read...

These gorgeous girls adourned the back cover. Blythe bleach- how cute!

Tis the season to get socky. Certainly the season to get giddy with excitment stocking your spring/summer sock drawer. Felt like I found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow when I discovered these stunners! Check them out, fall in love and get one in every color like I did!
We are more than excited to introduce a new comer to the TOKYOMADE family. Feast your eyes on the sleek, industrial fashion pieces from COMETMAN. Inspired by industiral design and geometrical features Cometman works with rhodium coated aluminium and fimo to mould futuristic creations.
We are also always happy to present new creations from the Tiny Azure range. Eiko Yamaji has whipped up some of her finest art pieces yet. The latest offerings include yume no mae ni and the gorgeous taiyouno hana (sunflower).
Tiny Azure has been recieving some well deserved interest lately. A stunning sunny day here in Tokyo today, the first REAL warmth of spring! Just gorgeous. I know there are a bazillion studies showing the positive impact of sunlight and warmth on human emotions and well being but sometimes we forget just how uplifting a pretty day like today can be.
So we have all fingers and toes crossed in the hope that the gorgeousness continues for our TOKYOMADE PINK PARTY in Inokashira Park on Saturday. A quick trip to the Emperor's Palace today did not give us much hope that the cherry blossoms will be in full bloom this weekend but we won't let that stop us! Little do they know but we are going to rope all of fab designers into creating a magnificant sakura centerpiece. A make shift tree stump, plenty of sakura branches, a whole lot of tape, giant pocky and lashing of imagination - sure to be one huge preschool-like art project!
We will have camera at the ready...report back soon with some TOKYOMADE PINK PARTY pics and stories.
Metropolis Magazine is Japan's No. 1 English magazine. Delivered to all hotspots each Friday, Masao rushes off to pick up a copy or two each week.
Flipping through this week's issue Masao was confronted with a familiar image. A second take revealed that TOKYOMADE has been featured in this week's Body and Soul section. CHECK IT OUT
Metropolis writes,
"New fashion website Tokyomade (www.tokyomade.com) is giving an “international voice to independent creators in Japan,” say founders Masao Tamaoki and Deanne Tonking. Launched on Valentine’s Day, the site aims to quench a thirst for Japanese design both locally and overseas. Tamaoki and Tonking, tired of all the mass-produced goods available in local shops, decided to create a venue to both promote and sell independent Japanese designer products. From bags to clothing to figurines to kawaii- and wa-style items, Tokyomade offers a unique mix of gifts with a Tokyo style. Many items are handmade and use traditional Japanese fabrics in their contemporary designs. Tokyomade also shares insider knowledge of Japan’s fashion scene through a blog featuring style forecasts and what’s new on the street. Join the fan club to receive fashion advice, newsletters, sale information, Tokyo travel tips and the chance to win prizes. The site also features detailed designer profiles. Tokyomade’s handpicked goods take 5-7 days to ship abroad, but if you’re lucky enough to live close by, you may get your package hand delivered."
Whether you are a Tokyo traveller, a long time dweller or a newbie to this city, the choice of places to eat drink and get merry can be quite overwhelming. So we plan to give you a few insider tips and offer up some info on the hot spots off the well beaten Tokyo track.
A few weeks ago we were lucky enough to be invited to listen to TOKYOMADE designer Seimani do his stuff on the decks at Enjoy House, Ebisu.

A top night, great tunes, awesome atmosphere and some of the best and original veg and vegan food I have tried in Tokyo. The scrumptious menu serves up a fusion of all things delectable at a reasonable price.
Masao kicked off the night with a plate of Thai inspired fish cakes and dipping sauce. We followed up with frozen margaritas and mojitos with our tempeh and salad set. A huge plate piled with fresh greens, tasty toppings, Japanese style vegie side dishes and two large pieces of bean filled tempeh with a sweet dipping sauce. Naturally we each washed everything down with homemade chai and soy ice cream. This glorious feast only set us back ¥4200, including drinks. The whole time being surrounded by an entertaining eclectic mish mash and backdrop of Seimani mixing smooth beats. A fab Tokyo night
Enjoy House in Ebisu is a must! Other reviews describe Enjoy House as a reggae bar run by a guy with Tokyo's biggest Afro. Go San's afro was quite tame when we visited but his style was a force to be reckoned with. One of the things we loved about Enjoy House (apart from the the devine frozen margaritas) was its impressive array of local music event flyers and its obvious support of independant djs and music acts.

Check HERE for a photo guide to getting to Enjoy House.

After a long and hard day of wandering through the steets of Tokyo spying the latest fashion items and picking up hot tips we were so excited to get home and find new products had arrived.
I seriously squealed with delight when I spied the piano card case and the Rock Chic Pouch. I promise you this wild city has gone musically mad, crackers over clefs and potty over pianos! Maybe it is the spring thing, music in the air? Whatever it is we love it and we are super excited to have these new Tokyo trends ready for you!
Check out the other awesome street style additions. More mirrors to add to the growing collection of groovy pocket pieces. And we simply love the sweet Pink Poodle Mini Pouch. Enjoy global style lovers, enjoy!
P.S. New Tiny Azure earrings coming VERY SOON!
P.P.S I got the most freakin pretty leopard print hi tops today - in love!
We met up with Tiny Azure creator Eiko Yamaji on the weekend. Apart from being the sweetest most humble girl she is just such a talent and keeps on coming up with fab goods. Check out her latest creations. We gasped when we opened up this little package, so gorg, so glam, so unique, so sweet!
